NOCIES Biannual Conference & Global CIE Forum
Paper sessions consist of a presentation and a discussion of papers of an ongoing or completed research project. Paper presentations last 15-20 minutes, plus some time for questions. They will be scheduled in 90 minute sessions which will normally include 3-4 papers on similar themes. The submission consists of an abstract (450-500 words) plus references of up to 200 words. NOCIES/GlobalCIE will nominate a chairperson for each session who will take care of time and manage discussion.
Please plan your presentation in a way to allow some questions within your presentation time. We suggest that you end your presentation with a couple of questions in order to stimulate discussion after the presentation.
Symposia consist of one 90 minute conference sessions organised by the submitters. They include a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 papers per session plus a Chair/ Discussant who has read the papers in advance. In order to guarantee a global/international perspective, at least two different countries/national perspectives must be represented within the papers presented in the symposium. The symposium needs to be handed in as one submission with a description of the symposium (up to 450-500 words) and abstracts for all papers linked to it (up to 400 word abstract each paper). For the papers in the symposium and for the symposium description, references of up to 200 words each should be given. The symposium proposer will also be asked to list presenting authors and co-authors with email addresses and affiliations.
A Chairperson/Discussant, who can offer a critique of the symposium, needs to be named on the proposal. The proposer is responsible for communicating with all contributors and with the NOCIES/GlobalCIE organizers about the proposal.
A roundtable session is a forum for the presentation and discussion of developmental work and research plans. Roundtable sessions are intended for focused discussions in small groups of research in progress, practitioner experiences, educational improvement initiatives and issues in institutional effectiveness and improvement.

The NOCIES/GlobalCIE conference has a Poster Sessions where authors present their poster in front of an audience. After the presentation, a mentor/chairperson and other conference participants can ask the presenter questions during a short discussion. The required format for your poster is A1 (594x841 mm/ 23.3x33.1 in) portrait format (upright) only. Each poster should include your name, affiliation and the title of your submission. Please arrive at the room in good time to put up your poster.
